GreeNest EU Project contributes to the Zero-emission Building (ZeB) EU future by demonstrating key ways to reduce embodied and operational building emissions. As the first year of the project duration is coming to its end, this two-day meeting here in Athens, is essential for the good progress of the project.
On the first day, December 2nd , the consortium met on National Technical University of Athens at the School of Architectural Engineering (Zografou). A successful overview of the project progress was presented by the technicians. In the sequel 30 participants students presented in a particularly interesting hands-on workshop, various educational activities with recycled wood, light clay bricks, light clay panel and plasters – renders.
The second day of the General Assembly meeting included a guided tour of the historical center of Athens, in Plaka. Attendees had the opportunity to visit the last remaining pre-revolutionary house in Athens, Benizelon Mansion.
The house is one of the Athenian noble mansions associated with the superior social group of Greek elders and a unique example of architecture.
The mansion is a prominent secular monument for the history of the city from the 16th to the 18th century.
A technical progress review meeting followed at National Technical University of Athens (Patission 42) with GREENEST partners under the supervision of the coordinator Ms. Maria Founti.
The Workshop “Green-architecture: Building with Nature Based Materials for a Zero-Emission Future of buildings” took place at the conference room at the old administration building. Cutting-edge developments in green architectural design, focusing on materials that harmonize with nature while enhancing durability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility were explored. Both German and Greeks shared their experience in using nature-based material in construction in Germany and in Crete.
Whether you are passionate about sustainable architecture or looking to stay ahead of emerging trends, these lectures offered valuable insights into the future of eco-friendly materials.
We look forward to your participation in our future events as we pave the way toward greener, more resilient built environments.
